Notes:

  • Put your name on everything thats yours!
  • Backpack should be adequate size and properly adjusted
    • Adequate hip belt / shoulder straps
    • Try to make sure that you pack weights no more than 25% of your body weight
  • Everything well secured
    • Nothing hanging on the outside of pack (except sleeping bag/pad)
    • Nothing carried in hands! (except walking stick)
  • Uniform - typically class 'B' unless noted otherwise
  • Footwear
    • Waterproof, broken-in, strudy boots
    • Proper foot care (clip toenails before hike, bring moleskin and use as needed)
    • Dry socks = comfy feet
